The Monkey King is a character from a classical Chinese novel/ folk legend that has had an immense influence on the Chinese culture and Martial Arts. The Monkey King was famous for his mischievousness and for use of the staff. Those qualities are infused into many Kung Fu routines. From Monkey style Kung Fu to various monkey inspired staff routines, all have signature postures that reference the famous story of the Monkey King and his “Journey to the West”.
